Coach Bill Kangas
Coach Bill Kangas, the Head Coach of Williams College, has been leading the Winadu Ice Hockey Program for over 20 years. He is the winningest all time hockey coach in Williams history and has been the New England Div. 2/Div. 3 Coach of the Year. He guided his team to the NCAA Tournament and has served as part of the selection committee and has coached numerous All-Americans. At Winadu, Coach Kangas works with each hockey player on an individual basis, assessing their specific goals with parent communication prior to camp and guiding them during the summer ice hockey program. Coach Kangas is fully part of the Winadu family and when not on the ice can be found at all camp events guiding and mentoring our campers.
Ice Hockey In a Traditional Camp Setting
Campers at Winadu can stay sharp on their skates, get ready for their upcoming hockey season while still enjoying everything a Traditional Summer Camp has to offer. We like to say at Winadu, you can play ice hockey, learn how to waterski and participate in Color War all in the same summer. The Ice Hockey program is designed for Mites through Midget players no matter their level at home and new players with the intention to play ice hockey in the off-season. Coach Kangas designs a summer long program focused on speed skating, shooting, passing, game awareness, stick handling, defense, team play and goaltending. Campers in our Ice Hockey program travel to a local rink throughout the summer. The program has a unique focus on individual growth.
Ice Hockey Plus
In everything we do at Winadu, we believe the program should grow with our campers. Ice Hockey Plus is an additional mini-camp during the summer which is focused for boys at the Pee-Wee/Bantam/Midget level. We recognize that the pace of the game and the rules of the game may change as campers get older so this program is designed to teach specific to those changes and offer campers who are interested additional time on the ice.
